Toast Ale Homebrew Competition
Madi Holtzman and Devin Hardy of Toast Ale USA have teamed up with Bitter & Esters, Brewnity and the NYC Fermentation Festival to host a simple homebrew competition where event attendees are the judge!
Toast Ale is made with a special recipe that includes fresh, surplus bread that would otherwise be wasted to brew a deliciously drinkable pale ale. We also open source our recipe online (so that homebrewers can participate in this revALEution! All profits go to charities to support the fight against food waste, making Toast the best thing since… well, you know.
One beer from each participating homebrew club of Brewnity in attendance at the festival will contend for the grand prize and props. The competition rules for brewing the beers were presented as follows:
RULES & REGULATIONS
- Your homebrew must substitute at least 40% of the grain bill with bread
- The bread must be bread that would otherwise go to waste*
- The bread cannot contain nuts or seeds
- You may brew any style of beer that you choose. The funkier the better!
What club will brew the best beer? You decide!
